Medley 90: 1-Hour SEO (fo' free), Hiroshima, Pizza, Dog training...

New Videos : A year ago I made a mini-course on the basics of SEO for blogging. It was part of Programming for Marketers, but now that the site has been shut down, I decided to release the SEO course for free on YouTube. Enjoy! And please share it / give the videos thumbs-up (thumb-ups? thumbs-ups?) if you find it valuable.

New Made You Think : This week on Made You Think we released a fun episode, running through our favorite takeaways from the first 20 books we read for the show. This is NOT a clips episode, it’s all new material, and we also got a little drunk while recording it so that was fun.

New Lessons : And this week I added my notes on The Hiroshima Diary, a painful to read but beautiful book, to my book notes collection.

Elon Musk released a flamethrower, because, well, who else can.

There is a plethora of knowledge we never learn in school, and these three areas (and their major pieces) from Srinivas Rao are a great place to start filling in those gaps. I’ll never understand why we learn what a mitochondria does, but not how to do our taxes or think about personal cash flow.

More evidence is coming out for the link between sugar (and maybe all refined carbs) and cognitive impairment (Alzheimers, Dementia, etc.), especially in people who are diabetic or prediabetic. It seems one of the the best ways for us to stay sharp well into old age is to reduce our sugar and refined carb consumption as much as possible.

I’ve gone on a couple Airbnb Experiences recently and they’ve been fantastic. If you’re in NYC, definitely check out the “Pizza: Circle of Life Cooking Class.” I’m going to try to do more of them while traveling, too. Airbnb seems to be taking the curation seriously, which is a great improvement over catch-all listings like on Yelp or Tripadvisor.

Last, I’ve been doing a deep-dive of dog training stuff over the last month (understandably). Is there any interest in me writing some articles on what I’ve learned? It’s been a little surprising how spread out the good information on dog training is.

Have a great week,
Nat
